SJ Bargh Group officially opens their new transhipment site
SJ Bargh Group Ltd have officially opened their new transhipment site in Longton, Stoke on Trent which has taken 12 months to build on the site of the well-known Shires bathroom manufacturing site, which closed some years ago.
Group Managing Director Anthony Finlayson-Green says “we are delighted to open this purpose-built facility, where we consolidate our Endon and Ashbourne operations, adding a warehouse and workshop with ATF capability to 3rd party customers, along with a training school jointly used with RG Bassett’s as it develops its training capability to the transport and haulage market place in the area.”
SJ Bargh, a Lancaster based family owned company of 82 years standing and considered a pedigree in the sector of milk haulage and logistics, has heavily invested over the past 5 years in its infrastructure in Lancaster, the acquisition of RG Bassett’s and Sons, a Tittensor family owned business, in June 2016, and this purpose built multi-use site “The Shires”, in Longton, Stoke on Trent.
The site will officially be opened by the Lord Mayor of Stoke on Trent Councillor Ross Irving at a reception held for customers, staff, trading partners, local business and services.
Finlayson-Green, the Shareholders and other members of the Board will hold the reception within the new premises to celebrate the investment in an area which is undergoing ongoing redevelopment and providing job creation opportunities in the area.

Finlayson-Green, Group Managing Director, adds that “the dairy business is under a lot of change and with the change comes enormous pressure. SJ Bargh are also proud to be part of the Palletforce network in Lancaster and the Stoke area via Bassett’s and hold a Scania parts franchise.”
