New BID - New Team

In November 2015 Lancaster BID were successful at re-ballot with a 68.5 per cent majority of businesses voting in favour of extending Lancaster BID for a further five years.

On 31st March 2016 the previous BID term ended and on 1st April 2016 the new Million Pound BID launched, with Lancaster BID being set up as a new company, limited by guarantee. Part of the setup of the new company was employing the right personnel to fulfil the Million Pound Business Plan.

Lancaster BID Chair Paul Cusimano said: “I am really pleased with how things are continuing to progress at Lancaster BID. Key to achieving the delivery of the BID Business Plan is implementing the right people to fulfil the newly defined roles.” Paul Cusimano, proprietor of JOSEPH+CO is one of three Lancaster BID directors who works alongside directors Mark Diggle, Proprietor of Diggles and Marcos Restaurant and Siân Johnson.

The BID directors work together with the Management Board who are comprised of numerous business owners, managers and advisors from professional and charitable organisations.

Meet the BID Team

BID Manager - Rachael Wilkinson

Rachael Wilkinson has worked at Lancaster BID since December 2014. Prior to working at Lancaster BID Rachael completed her ‘Business and Marketing’ degree at Liverpool University and then went on complete a Master’s degree in ‘Internship in International Hospitality, Tourism and Events - specialising in Event Management and Marketing’.

Rachael’s new role as BID Manager means that she oversees the day to day running of the BID as well as managing BID Events, Marketing & Promotions, Special Projects, Christmas in the city, Finance and is also responsible for the BID Marketing Assistant, Megan Pollard. Rachael was appointed as BID Manager in April 2016 and has worked previously as a Marketing and Event Assistant at Lancaster BID.

Rachael said: “I’m really enjoying the responsibility that my new role entails. I’m pleased that I will still be involved in the Marketing and Events aspect of the jobs, as that is a role I particularly enjoy. Overly the last 19 months in Lancaster I have got to know many of the businesses and key players in the city centre and I am looking forward to getting to know many more. I have recently been involved in the Destination Development Plan for Lancaster and I’m really excited for the future of this beautiful historic city.”

BID Development Manager - Tom Fyson

Tom Fyson started working at Lancaster BID in May 2016. Working part-time, Tom is currently concentrating on funding opportunities and Improvement Projects in the city centre, including Cleansing, Crime, Grot-Spots, Christmas Lighting, Ginnels, Side streets and Alleyways.

Tom has previously worked as a Community Spaces Facilitator, with local food and community projects and is now fulfilling a new role as BID Development Manager.

Tom said: “After living in Lancaster for 8 years, I’m excited to join Lancaster BID and be able to make a positive contribution to improving the City Centre. I look forward to meeting lots of businesses over the next few months.”

BID Marketing Assistant - Megan Pollard

Megan Pollard has worked freelance for Lancaster BID as a copy editor whilst studying her Master’s degree at The University of Central Lancashire, since January 2015. Since graduating from her Master’s degree in Publishing, Megan now works part-time at Lancaster BID, working alongside Rachael and Tom. Megan undertakes the role of Marketing and Event Assistant and her tasks range from minute taking, event processes, proof reading and collating business information for Levy Payers.

Megan said: “I’ve been working with the BID team since January 2015 as a freelance copy editor and as event staff for BID events such as the Christmas Lights Switch-On. I enjoy the variety of the job, where no two days are the same and I am looking forward to the exciting events we have planned for the remainder of the year!”

The BID team work at City Lab in Dalton Square and are always available to talk to businesses about their concerns, special project and event ideas or just to say hello!
