Morecambe set to sparkle at Christmas

MorecambeBID, one of the country’s newest Business Improvement Districts, is out to make Morecambe sparkle this Christmas with a light display that should be seen across the district.

John O’Neill, Morecambe BID Manager, said: “We want to make a statement that Morecambe is back on the map and, with the opening of the new Bay Gateway, what better way than to telegraph to the world we are open for business.

“Without giving too much away and spoiling the surprise, the sparkle switch-on is intended to coincide with the St John’s Hospice ‘Light Up a Life’ service at Morecambe Winter Gardens at 7.00 pm December 2nd.

“This will not be your traditional Christmas light show, but we are certain it will be a memorable one and will last most of December.”

Businesses and residents may have already seen some of the BID-subsidised Christmas trees popping up around town, and the lights are the fairy on top of the tree. Strategic locations around town have been chosen to ensure that Morecambe is shown at its best. Light displays will be placed on The Arndale shopping centre, The Midland Hotel, and around the old clock tower. In addition, the Winter Gardens will also be magically lit for the festive period.
