Chamber Chat with Bill Johnson
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
With snow warnings starting to roll in and Christmas adverts playing on the radio, it’s clear that the holidays are just around the corner.
One of the main events coming up is Lancaster’s Christmas Lights Switch-On on 20th November. This year’s event looks to be the best ever, organised by Lancaster BID in partnership with The Bay.
Double-platinum boy band, '5ive', will be headlining in Market Square. There will also be performances from Stagecoach Theatre School, Stuart Michaels, Lancaster Bombers, Thomas Teago ft. Fazer, Road Trip, Paul Akister plus this year’s winner of The Voice, Kevin Simm. Lancaster's Olympic Gold medallist at Rio, Scott Durant, will also be there as a special guest.
The event shouts loud and proud to the whole of North Lancs and South Cumbria that Lancaster is “open for Xmas.” With the Bay Gateway open, and the District’s roads flowing better, attendance is sure to reach an all-time record. It’s an opportunity for the City and traders to showcase what’s on offer for locals and visitors alike, particularly the evening economy, as thousands flock to Lancaster to experience the magic of Xmas and a free concert.
Two weeks after the Lights Switch-On, the holidays will roll into Lancaster. Lancaster BID have announced that the Coca-Cola truck is confirmed to visit. Well done to the BID team on securing the event which will pull in thousands of visitors. The iconic truck, which for many signals the beginning of Xmas, will be in Dalton Square on December 3rd.
Having two Lancaster BID organised events so close together, both attracting thousands to the city, is fantastic for businesses and the community. I’ll certainly be heading to both to show my support and, of course, to get my free can of Coca-Cola.
Holidays are coming.
